OMG Back in Cali!
(Notice the subtle rhyme in that title.)
I’ve been back for approximately eight hours now, and am finally getting used to my place again. It’s weird how being away for 9 weeks really fades your memory for what’s normally completely familiar and second nature.
Apparently, I was feeling, oh I don’t know, nice or curious or something*, and I decided a few minutes ago to peek...

That is quite likely to MOST fun you can have in Kingman.
The last time I stayed out this way, I ended up in a place with bed bugs, so I figured so long as I didn’t have a repeat performance of *that*, I’d be all right.
Traveling Is Weird
I’m in a motel in Kingman, Arizona this evening.
I’m watching ESPN.
Which I never do, as a rule.
But I broke that rule because it’s the X Games.
I didn’t plan on watching the X Games.
But Shaun White was skateboarding.
And long curly red hair always seems to capture my attention.
And now it’s Super Cross.
And dirt bikes.
And boys.
I digress.
Two for the price of one.
Favorite Parts:
That professional opportunity I wanted to apply for? I did it.
A photo shoot involving my parents’ dogs. I’m talking 300 photos. Whoa.
Dinner with my partner and my parents. I’m so thrilled that that kind of thing happens now; I was afraid it never would.
Least Favorite Parts:
Packing up my suitcase and all my other junk, because it’s time to head back...
Just Call Me Tina.
Hey, remember pyramid schemes? I miss the good old days, when you had to know someone in person in order to have to hear anything about them. An uncle of mine used to be involved in one, and it was fitting because he’s never been terribly sensical about things.
But ah, those days are long past, and now all that’s required to get a metric ton of information about a pyramid scheme is...

Thanks for salivating along with me.
Prepare yourselves.
To be bombarded with images from my dinner tonight! Food porn for the win!
Scene: The Standard Diner, which is a restaurant that chefs up unique takes on diner food. It’s kind of amazing.
Hey, you know what's fun?
Canceling your debit card because some idiot impersonated you for the sake of buying the same video game five or twenty times in the space of 30 mintues. And then realizing that you only brought one credit card as back-up because you were intent on keeping from spending too much while you’re on your leave of absence from work. And then reading the expiration date on said back-up credit card...

Good *@$%#$@
Some yahoo stole my credit card info (not through a phishing scam, and not even by me losing my wallet or anything), set up an account in my name, and tried to buy a bunch of video games. The thing that pisses me off the most? That the company who received the charges “can’t” disclose the email address that stole *my* information, because apparently the thief needs to be...
Conundrum
Just stumbled upon a great professional opportunity that would get me free registration for a convention by blogging about it. But then they demanded writing samples and I’m like, uh, um, hehe. My extensive time writing on the internet has sort of been the antithesis of professional for this particular venture.
Luckily, I refuse to censor anything I have ever written. So I guess it’s...
Resumeme
This is a good one. So far in my life, I’ve been the following:
Cat/Dog Sitter (my first entrepreneurial effort; I was popular with the neighbors while they vacationed)
Cater waiter (many events in the community and at my synagogue)
Radio Station Intern (do the DJs’ bidding)
Sound Guy for the radio stations (doing voiceovers for commercials, and the in-studio guy who made the DJs...
Beating the Ads
I don’t watch much TV, generally (the exception being this summer, but that’s an exception because my partner had surgery and so we’ve seen pretty much every episode of House Hunters ever, but I digress), but have noticed that, when I do watch it, I see a whole bunch of ads* relating to weight and weight loss.
I used to have the worst body image. I forever saw myself as larger...

Upcoming John Grisham novels

I’m not so sure. I always associate John Grisham novels as having “The” as the first word in the title.
Birthdays in the Hizzouse!
I hereby extend birthday greetings and love to two fantastic people here in Tumblr Land: @Guille and @Catty1!!!
I was going to get you a picture of a peach, but then I ate it.
And it was super delicious and juicy and sweet.
Kind of like you guys.
And then I was going to take a picture of the clouds outside.
But then the majesty that was the silver linings from the sun was suddenly gone....

In Search of Home
It’s now four weeks post-surgery for my partner, who is holding up well and making great strides of improvement. It’s been hard being apart, him in New Mexico and me in California, but I felt for the longest time that Albuquerque just didn’t feel like home anymore.
This time, it finally feels right. My family’s crazy has become more manageable, which has certainly helped,...
